Committee Members Role and Responsibilities
The 2006 program committee will include a maximum of 12 members, 2 of whom are InterFrench leaders and 10 are French-speaking executives. The committee meetings take place in French. SiliconFrench events will be held the fourth Thursday of every month at Menlo College, Russell Center on 1000 El Camino Real, Atherton, CA 94027.
The main role of the SiliconFrench committee member is to create an event with quality and value-driven venues.
As a requirement, the committee member will need to commit to the organization:
  • To act as a leader for selecting a professional topic, inviting speakers/panelists and moderating at least one event in the next 12 months. Committee members can work with another committee for a given event.
  • To provide support to other committee members by helping choose the topic and share their business network to invite quality speakers.
  • To communicate clearly the goals and how he/she will measure the success of the event to the other committee members.
  • To participate in a monthly conference call and to attend a meeting in person every quarter in 2006. A committee member who is unable to attend 3 conference calls/meetings in a row will relinquish his/her place to prospective committee members on the waiting list. The conference call/meeting will generally be held at noon the first Thursday of every month.
  • To suggest sponsorship possibilities whenever possible to improve logistics (food, drink and venue).
  • To brief the speakers to allow quality time of questions/answers with SiliconFrench members after the presentation.

Program Selection and Organization Process
Topics are proposed by each committee member responsible for his/her event, but topics are dependent on approval by the majority of committee members present. The committee will approve topics likely to interest the business community, to attract top-speakers and experts where the committee member is sufficiently knowledgeable to moderate the panel successfully. The committee member can choose whether s/he wants to have the event in English or French, which we should know ahead of time for logistical reasons.
4 weeks before the event, the moderator will send InterFrench staff a written paragraph by email about their own bio, the topic, the speakers/panelists, their bios and any other relevant information. This information will be made available on the website and sent by email in the InterFrench newsletter to over 6000 professionals every month. The email address of our staff member Jean-Pierre is : jpf@interfrench.com
