CSPA EVENT: 2008 New Year GuanXi Mixer
|
Date: Monday, March 10, 2008
Time: 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
About The Event:
The Asian Lunar New Year has just ushered in the Year of the Rat, Year 4706. Marking the beginning of the lunar calendar cycle, the Year of the Rat portends a time of rebirths and new beginnings. What better way is it then to celebrate by connecting with old friends and forging new friendships. GuanXi, the Chinese words for "connection", captures the Asian concept of the handshake and the relationship as the foundation of business success. And in the spirit of GuanXi, CSPA, SABA and VSVN, have arranged an exciting networking event within the halls of the venerable Computer History Museum.
Steve Westly , former California State Controller, Founder and CEO of the clean technology VC firm, the Westly Group, and a member of the board of Tesla Motors, is our esteemed keynote speaker for the evening. Appropriately, the theme of this year’s event is “Global Impact, Global Responsibility”. This event brings together professionals in technology, business, venture capital and law, and highlights the underpinnings of business in GuanXi. The evening will include a spirited performance, lots of food and drinks, as well as full access to all the cool displays and exhibits of the Computer History Museum.
Come and join us for a great evening of networking and camaraderie, and share in a raucous celebration for a prosperous 2008
**Appetizers and drinks will be served**

Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, Palo Alto
About the Event
As one journal article has billed him, Bill Nguyen is Mr. Do-It-All. Bill is
an entrepreneur's entrepreneur, and one of the few in the Valley, who truly
deserves the term serial entrepreneur. He has founded or played a critical role
in an amazing 7 startups. Bill has taken on the world of messaging with
OneBox.com, which he founded and sold to what is now Openwave for $850 million,
the world of telecommunications with Seven Networks, whose goal is to make
mobile email available on every mobile phone at an affordable price, and now
he's taking on the world of music with his current startup,
Lala.com. Bill's startups
typically aim at nothing less than revolutionary changes at each industry he
takes on.
In this engaging one-on-one setting, we will chat with Bill about his passion
for startups (i.e., What makes him tick?), the driving factors for his many
successes (i.e., How does he do it?), and his advice to the budding entrepreneur
in the audience (i.e., How can the rest of us do it?). Join us for an insightful
evening with Bill, and network with others from the CSPA as well as the VSVN
communities.

Headlining Speaker: Barbara Carey
As an inventor and entrepreneur, Barbara has brought more
than 100 products to market, launched seven companies, and
been awarded more than a dozen patents in the last 20 years.
And she's done all of it virtually on her own through a
step-by-step, tried-and-true formula she calls 'The Carey
Formula.'
Countless people have visions of products that would be
extremely successful. But they don't have a plan. Barbara
Carey is living proof that with a plan, a person can
single-handedly start, nurture and grow a self-funded
business.
