Jean-Dominique Meunier, Thomson Cooperative Program Director

Jean-Dominique Meunier has an Engineering Degree from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble - INPG and a Business Degree from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Bordeaux with a masters degree in Industrial Purchasing.

Jean-Dominique Meunier entered the Thomson Group in 1989. He has occupied several key positions within the European Sourcing organization, including 6 years in Germany, as marketing officer, sourcing officer, administration & controlling manager. He managed the Semiconductor Program of the Strategic Sourcing organization and then the flat panel program. Back at the Thomson Head Quarters, he led the Thomson task force in charge of implementing the first plasma sets in the European and North America markets. While developing a joint development program followed by a joint research program with NEC on plasma displays. In 2000 he became the Managing Director of Thomson Plasma, a R&D center of 70 people located close to Grenoble, France. Three years later he was appointed Managing Director of Thomson R&D Center in Rennes, France the largest R&D center of Thomson Group in the world with more than 400 engineers. In 2005 his responsabilities increased with his nomimation as General Secretary of Thomson R&D France.

After 10 years within Sourcing organization and 5 years R&D center managing positions, Jean-Dominique Meunier has developed a recognized expertise in the field of international cooperative R&D projects. In 2005, he co-founded a French cluster initiative dedicated to Media & Networks (www.media-and-networks.com), a group of 150 executives from industry and research institutes dedicated to programs focused on Media and Networks future technologies with a yearly budget of 100 M€ in R&D. In 2007, Jean-Dominique Meunier was appointed as Thomson Cooperative Program Director and he expanded his regional dimension to Europe by becoming Executive Director of the European Technology Platform dedicated to Networked Electronic Media (www.NEM-initiative.com), a 600 members club from Industry and Research Institutes.

Jean-Dominique Meunier is Vice-Chairman of Media & Networks executive board. He is also Board Member of Rennes-1 University, Rennes Atalante Technopole and the Meito Technology Information and Communication Brittany Industrial & Research Institute association. He became “Who’sWho” member in 2003. Jean-Dominique Meunier was born in Burgundy in France.
